SHLJ-11 Container and Heavy Road Vehicle Flat

The SHLJ-11 container and heavy road vehicle flats were delivered in 1982. They were fitted with both air and vacuum brakes. They were equipped with two bridging beams, which were hung one on either side when not in use and a wider platform than usual for other wagons based on the same frame. They also had a tie down equipment storage bin under the deck which was covered by an oval hatch. They were fitted with Keystone Centre Sill hydraulic buffing equipment on the drawgear with 508mm of travel. They could transport 10, 20 and 40 foot containers

They were commonly used for transporting SADF Ratel Infantry Fighting Vehicles, as well as other military vehicles (Except Olifant tanks - they have a load limit of 48 tons) and saw heavy use during the SADF withdrawal from South West Africa after the Tripartite Accords

Our model accepts the locating lugs of most manufacturers container models (Walthers, etc.), and is supplied with bogies, wheels, couplers and brake wheels. It is available in both 12mm and 16.5mm gauge
