SAR K-52 Guards and Baggage Van

Between 1970 and 1974 the SAR placed the K-52 guards and baggage vans into service. Of all steel construction with an oval cross section to the roof, they featured 2 baggage compartments, one at each end, and a central guards compartment. They were equipped with a single toilet cubicle for the guards use. There were four dog boxes. They were very similar to the earlier K-51 vans, but there are very noticable differences which have been faithfully modelled. These were one of the few vans that were fitted with two different types of bogies - either the Aligned bogie or the Commonwealth 2057

In the late 1990s SAR started removing the dog boxes and the periscopes. We have modelled both eras as Early and Late.

The model is supplied unpainted. Bogies, wheels, couplers and screws are included. The model also features accurate underframe equipment and accurate roof vent spacing and arrangement. A further feature is the sprung inter-carriage walkway, which can only be found on SARMODEL models.
