Watson Bogie

The Watson bogie was used under all new passenger carriages from 1930, replacing the 8581 bogie, up to 1938 when it was replaced as the default mainline passenger bogie by the Day bogie. While they were supposed to improve the on the ride comfort of the 8581 bogie, they proved to be worse, at least initially, prompting complaints from the catering department regarding the rough riding of equipped dining cars. While the problems were eventually ironed out, they were fairly quickly replaced on new builds by the Day bogie, although they were seldom replaced on vehicles originally fitted with them.

Highly detailed and full relief, our bogies are the most accurate on the market today within the limitations of scale.

Supplied as a pair, complete with wheels and mounting screws, they are unpainted so the modeller can choose the correct colour to match their model and period.
