SMLJ-9 Container Flat

The SMLJ-9 container flats were based on a similar frame as the SHL-5 wagons, but there were many differences. They entered service in 1989. They were vacuum and air braked, had a fully enclosed platform and were fitted with Keystone KK coupler hydraulic buffing equipment on the drawgear with 381mm of travel. An unusual feature of these wagons was the horizontal brakewheels mounted at the ends of the wagons as opposed to being mounted vertically on the sides. They could transport 5, 10, 20 and 40 foot containers

Our model accepts the locating lugs of most manufacturers container models (Walthers, etc.), and is supplied with bogies, wheels, couplers and brake wheels. It is available in both 12mm and 16.5mm gauge
