Arriving from UK in 1940, the GC-25-C segregation van was numbered 2754. It was steel bodied, fully air conditioned and luxuriously appointed.

it slept 6 passengers in 1 compartment and 1 coupe, four passengers in the compartment and two in the coupe. It, along with the Blue Train GC-10-C were the only "Reserved" (An euphemism for non-white) first class accommodation on the South African Railways.

It was withdrawn from Blue Train service for use on the 1947 Royal Tour. A radio room was added in the baggage compartment was added, and when it was returned to Blue Train service after the tour, although the radio room was removed, the roof air vent for it and the radio antenna mounts were left in place.

There are three versions of this model which can be roughly broken down as follows:

  • Early - As built
  • Mid - with roof air vent from the Royal Tour radio room and modified guards lookout ducket
  • Late - Drakensberg service, inter carriage coms equipment and backlit number boards deleted, Day bogies replaced by Commonwealth 2286 bogies. Concertina vestibule connectors replaced with Gummiwurst, rear vestibule door removed, ducket replaced by periscope
The model is supplied with flush glazing as well as separately applied seat backs, bunks and compartment doors for the modeller to customise each vehicle. The model also features the unique SARMODEL sprung vestibule walkways

Supplied unpainted, but with a detailed interior with separately applied seats. Bogies, wheels, couplers and screws are included. The model also features accurate underframe equipment and accurate roof vent spacing and arrangement.
