Between 1951 and 1953, Rhodesia Railways placed the CS-4 Second Class carriages into service. These along with CF-5 First Class, CT-2 Third Class and CN-4 Fourth Class carriages were the first steel bodied main line carriages to see service with Rhodesia Railways. They featured 5 compartments and 3 coupes and could seat and sleep 39 people. All of the carriages were built in the UK by various manufacturers who had supplied the RR in the past. They had two toilet cubicles, one at each end of the carriage. Many of these carriages are still in use today, but their age and lack and of maintenance have left them in a very dilapidated state

Supplied unpainted, but with a detailed interior with separately applied compartment doors, bunks and seat backrests so the modeller can customise the model as they wish. Note that these have a different interior to the CF-5 1st class models we manufacture due to the different seat backrest and bunk arrangements between 1st and 2nd class carriages. The 16.5mm gauge versions are supplied with a cut down version of the bogies to allow them to swing without fouling the steps. Bogies, wheels, brake wheels, couplers and screws are included. The model also features accurate underframe equipment and accurate roof vent spacing and arrangement.
