SAR E-3 Second Class Passenger Carriage

Between 1982 and 1983 the SAR placed the the E-3 second class carriages into service. Outwardly similar to the earlier UCW manufactured carriages from the 1960s and 1970s, they were 888mm longer and the internal arrangement was different, including a shower. The toilets were smaller and this with the extra length allowed for an extra compartment. They featured 6 compartments and 2 coupes and could seat and sleep 42 people. They were shower equipped and had two toilet cubicles, one at each end of the carriage.

Supplied unpainted, but with a detailed interior with separately applied compartment doors, bunks and seat backrests so the modeller can customise the model as they wish. Note that these have a different interior to the C-10 1st class models we manufacture due to the different seat backrest and bunk arrangements between 1st and 2nd class carriages. Bogies, wheels, brake wheels, couplers and screws are included. The model also features accurate underframe equipment and accurate roof vent spacing and arrangement.
