In 1953, Rhodesia Railways placed the CV-8 Passenger guards van into service. These were the first steel bodied passenger guards vans to see service with Rhodesia Railways and they shared the same body cross section with a tumblehome as the first steel bodied passenger carriages introduced in 1951, but had an elliptical roof rather than a clerestory one. They included large baggage compartments at each end for passenger baggage and mail, a large safe, a fish compartment, three dog boxes and a toilet for the guard. They were built in the UK by various manufacturers who had supplied the RR in the past. Many of these vans are still in use today, but their age and lack and of maintenance have left them in a very dilapidated state

Supplied unpainted, but with a detailed interior. Bogies, wheels, brake wheels, couplers and screws are included. The model also features accurate underframe equipment and accurate roof vent spacing and arrangement.
