Please note: This is not the kit that we supplied previously. This model does not require a donor, it is complete with a DCC ready mechanism (NEM 8 pin) powered by a coreless motor and pantographs. The mechanism includes prototypical spoked wheels

The first 6E1 Series 9 was delivered 1981, and the last Series 11 locomotive was delivered in 1985. They differed from the Series 8 locomotives in that they had rainwater drains on the lower side of the body covered with small duckets, the corners of the cab side doors were rounded and the doors were slightly recessed, the triangular cabside window on the drivers side was replaced a sealed rectangular window with the bottom and top rounded off, and the same window on the drivers assistant side was deleted entirely.

The spotting eras as modelled can be loosely defined as Mid and Late.

As delivered (mid), the locomotive pilots (NOT cow-catchers!) had three long vertical slots on each side of the coupler.

The division between mid and late is based on the addition of strengthening plates underneath the cab side windows and cab side doors. This occurred in the mid 2000s, but has not been applied to all locomotives in the series.

The modification applied where a plate was welded over the slots from the inside of the pilots is not taken into consideration, as this modification seems to have been applied somewhat haphazardly applied over the years.
