Please note: This is not the kit that we supplied previously. This model does not require a donor, it is complete with a DCC ready mechanism (NEM 8 pin) powered by a coreless motor and pantographs. The mechanism includes prototypical spoked wheels

The first 6E1 Series 6 was delivered 1976, and the last 6E1 Series 7 was delivered in 1977. They differed from the Series 2-5 locomotives in that a rainwater gutter was added above the small grilles on the sides of the body and they were also the first to be delivered with captive MU cables on the right hand side of the cab front instead of MU sockets

The spotting eras as modelled can be loosely defined as Early, Mid and Late.

The differences between early and mid, and mid and late are based around three modifications. As delivered (early), the locomotive pilots (NOT cow-catchers!) had four long vertical slots on each side of the coupler.

The division between early and mid is based on the deletion of the outer vertical slots on the right hand side of the pilots.

The division between mid and late is based on the addition of strengthening plates underneath the cab side windows and cab side doors. This occurred in the mid 2000s, but has not been applied to all locomotives in the series.

The modification applied where a plate was welded over the slots from the inside of the pilots is not taken into consideration, as this modification seems to have been applied somewhat haphazardly applied over the years.
